righthand says: All the remains were reburied at Masada as Jewish with full military honours on July 7, 1969. There's no doubt but that these were the remains of Roman soldiers, the enemy. Dang...well I've felt for a long time that histories are certainly slanted and spin propaganda; the more we learn the more we find out is distorted. This would be a pretty big coup if true. John Wayne, for example, is the epitome of the USA-Indian cowboy myth. 'Get my drift, pilgrim.' History is most often just lies promoted by the rulers in charge, or the winners. The mention of John Wayne brings up the movie "The Alamo" in my mind. My grandparents were all from Mexico and they learned a very different account for the Texas fight for independence. Texas version: We're fighting for FREEDOM! and independence from tyranny. Mexican version: We had just enacted a law that stated no Mexican citizen can own slaves. The new citizens in the Tejas region, having come from the U.S., have slaves and are not willing to give them up. We must have them obey the laws they swore to uphold and give up their slaves. So, the fight for Texas independence, at least in part, was actually a war to uphold slavery. |
