When I was there many years ago, it was abject poverty. People were living in tin sheds. Several hurricanes have leveled the place over the past few years. Good for them if they are the third happiest nation in the world! They have a better attitude than us in the U.S, one of the richest nations on earth.
Unicef says this:
"The incidence of poverty is declining. However, almost one of every two Jamaicans who live in poverty is a child."
