I agree. Most of them, like Japanese politicians (lol), don't have enough knowledge about the issue. However the science clarifies the facts, we mustn't exaggerate this perspective of politicians- "prestige". This is regarded as one of the important factors in politics. Once they have clarified their own stance, (e.g. Rep. is against the global warming, and Dem. is for it), they cannot easily change the stance, because it may show the public that they're opportunists, or they comes to prove by themselves in this way: "We do not have knowledge on this issue!" Is it possible for a politician who says like this to have prestige even a little?...

This point goes not only the domestic politics but also the global governance. How this issue is solved should be asked to it.

But, if, unlike the stance of Republicans, that of Democrats is that climate change has been caused by human's activity, different solution may be given to the issue, when it becomes the next government party. I'm not sure, though.
