I noticed this years ago when I decided to feed my family a more healthy diet. I love fish! It has been touted as very good for us, but it's price per pound is higher than beef! The price of a head of lettuce was more than a bag of potato chips. Orange juice is much more than soft drinks and wheat bread more than white. So there you go......

These kind of stories always remind me of "Rums bin Feld" (I love this name now). A while ago I was searching the sweetener products and recall reading the role he played in sugar substitute aspartame controversy (Google it).

I've been strongly in favor of taxing the crap out of unhealthy foods such as pops, chips, junk food, etc and applying the tax money to subsidizing fruit & veg... I remember growing up that even then it was cheaper to buy junk food than real groceries & some times that was all we could afford.. and they wonder why many in North America and Europe are getting fat & unhealthy...
