Crikey, old Helmut is giving interviews to the Bild-Zeitung now? Lo, how the mighty have fallen. I'd certainly take the word of a politician over the word of the majority of scientists in the world, wouldn't you? Heh. If Al Gore clashed with the beliefs of the majority of top CREDIBLE scientists, I sure aas heck wouldn't put any credence in his beliefs either. Nor I. Climate change is being used as a political tool. It has become a religion to the believers. But that's okay. We can agree to disagree. If you feel that humans are causing global warming, you are certainly free to turn off all the electricity in your house, stop driving, and live the kind of life you believe would save the Earth. If on the other hand you believe as I do that humans have a very insignificant impact on the climate, then get the SUV, turn on the AC, and fire up the barbecue. All I'm asking is that you don't impose your climate change religion on me. Climate change is being used as a political tool. It has become a religion to the believers.Political tool? To accomplish what? A religion? You mean it threatens us with fiery damnation? Hmm, well, maybe it does... "It is hard to convey just how selective you have to be to dismiss the evidence for climate change. You must climb over a mountain of evidence to pick up a crumb: a crumb which then disintegrates in your palm. You must ignore an entire canon of science, the statements of the world's most eminent scientific institutions, and thousands of papers published in the foremost scientific journals." Its easy to generalize but the way I see it if people are becoming more aware of the environment and cooperate to make the world safer and if the current climate change publicity is highlighting the environment and the need for a sustainable world and learning more about the earth and bringing people together cooperating in communities to help lessen there pollution/ignorance of the natural world we live in.Its not against or for we all live on this planet .We are highly oil dependent and its not going to last forever The problem with global warming alarmism is that people are proposing solutions that will wreck economies of industrialized nations with little or no effect. It will hurt the poor while the rich play shell games with the carbon credit scam and just rake in more money. It also distracts from real environmentalism. Instead of the focus currently being on real pollution, the alarmists have us focused on CO2 which isn't a pollutant at all. And the worst are people like the Goracle who has a business set up so that he profits off the alarmism he is helping to cause. People think the oil companies are bad, but it really doesn't get as bad as what Gore is doing. The American Heritage Science Dictionary - Cite This Sourcepollutant (pə-lt'nt) Pronunciation Key Too much of anything in excess can BECOME a prob... By that definition, water is a pollutant. I think you're missing the key words here:.harmful concentrations. I guess water, indeed, could be a pollutant if it was concentrated enough in your body. I seem to recall a radio prank a few weeks ago where two disc jockeys had contestants drink vast amounts of water without using the restroom. One of them died and they are still looking for another job. Ahhh, but water vapor is the primary greenhouse gas. It is more abundant than all the other greenhouse gases combined. That would make it every bit as much a pollutant as CO2 by the above definition. Clouds also effect the global temperature, so I guess you could call them big puffy balls of pollution. It is, indeed. I think you missed my whole point, however and the significance of the definition. The point was that concentration is what matters. High concentrations of water in your body, by the definition, would be a pollutant because it would be harmful. See definition. High concentrations of water vapor in the air, would not, because high concentrations are the norm, like you just implied. High concentrations in the atmosphere are not at harmful concentrations and thus, do not apply. This conversation has completely gone off on a tangent. I agree, just plug out your unessentials and don't go crazy driving everywhere for the planets sake |
