While we continue to slog away in Iraq, the GOP is still fixated there, whilst the situation in Afghanistan just keeps slipping away. These people are utterly clueless, incapable, incompetent and not worthy of the military that they have frittered away since March 2003.
I just watched "Saving Private Ryan" for the first time since it came out, what, 9-10 years ago?
At the end, where the elderly Ryan visits CPT Miller's grave at Normandy, had a much more profound and emotional effect on me than it did in those happy pre-Iraq days. It takes a lot for me to really tear up because of a film, but SPR did it this time around.

Yeah, it's been a while since I've posted, and I'm at a loss for words tonight. I just have a ball of anger and sadness right now in the center of my soul...and thinking of the flippant way the administration has handled our military and our strategy since 9/11 pushes me to the edge of sickness.
McCain and his faithful are so utterly out of touch with the realities of today - and it's evident every time he or his cronies just happen to mention his POW experience 40 years ago.
Again, all honor toward his service in Vietnam, but when is someone really going to challenge him and ask the million dollar question: "Why are you still fighting Vietnam? This is 2008, and we are up to our eyeballs in Iraq and STILL have not rolled up Osama bin Laden and AQ!"
