Ben Stein hits the exact note we all need to think about while watching the Burns documentary The War.

Let's get an ALL around, ALL sides POP on this one.
Or would doing that be contrary to the "adaptable, sophisticated, nuanced" sensibilities of some of us?

Yes, the World War II generation did save the world from totalitarianism. We have every right to thank whomever one believes in for sparing us from Europes's frightful destruction and Japan's destruction. It was an awful war! I recently read (because of Ken Burns documentary) E. B. Sledge's "With the Old Breed" and am currently reading the "Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang. Those who think negotiation can keep us out of any war are naive. Our country may negotiate in good faith, but the other country may be determined to fight anyway--read how the Japanese negotiated before Pearl Harbor--even their own ambassadors here did not know that the military in Japan had a different idea, they onl...

Satchamo, open your eyes and ears. This country is in the process of taking over the world also. If you would just think a little about it maybe you'd come up with something like "Maybe our leadership is saying one thing and doing the other." Just like the bad guys,no?

The non coms , waving their flag in their easy chair, while someone else does their fighting. Truly a pathetic lot.

So glad I fought for such morons.

Sorry, if you think I need to open my eyes and ears. I lived through "Duck and Cover" drills in school and neighbors building bomb shelters during the 50's, the "Bay of Pigs" during the 60's while I was in college (when we went to DefCon 3) and got to see the end of the Cold War with the "tearing down of the Berlin War"--my perspective is a little different than yours--after all, my parents (World War II generation, kids of the depression) sacrificed during the war so that I did not have to experience the hardships they had and I have a standard of living and security they never felt was possible until they neared retirement.

Shut up about the destruction we're causing overseas? Give thanks that the U.S. is murdering innocent people in an unjust war?? Not happening!!! Surely now is the time God expects us to stand up and speak out against these atrocities.
