I wonder too. Yet how could he not be aware what the outcome might be? To us this act seems outrageous but this family lives in this theocratic society. To not be aware of the consequences seems far fetched. Which only brings up other issues concerning living in a patriarchal society where women are seemingly treated so inhumanly.
