cylons says:
- separate tags with spaces, not commas. this is the only tag-oriented site i've seen that uses commas, and i always mess it up
- i might be missing something obvious, but as far as i can tell, you can put clippers on your board but not individual clipmarks. please educate me if i'm wrong!
- ("" same disclaimer about how you should inform me if i'm uninformed) a gude/key to all the clipmarks icons? for example, i have no idea what it means when a 'popped' icon has a star over it.
- opera is a good broswer and it would love to have you installed in its toolbar

Oh! No! I love this tagging here, because you can tag "web 2.0" or "internet applications" instead of "web20" and "internetapplications". I think the CM tagging with commas is a big big advantage.

You're right! Eric said that this issue will be solved. It's one of the most requested features here I think. But as long as it is not implemented, you can do like most of us do an...

it is funny what you get used to. i do keep messing up the spacing v. commas for tags--but at least there's the handy dandy drop down to let me know that i'm doing it right (when I am). I guess I'm the sort to use camel case over spaces between words.....

1 - separate tags with spaces, not commas: i totally understand that delicious started this trend, but in my opinion it stinks. to me, the user gets no benefit from this method. i know it's a tough habit to break, but i really don't want to intentionally perpetuate an inferior method. if there's an advantage to it that i'm overlooking, please let me know.

2 - with our next upload you'll be able to add clipmarks posted by other people to your own Library. We're combining the "Mine" and "Board" sections of the site into one section. In that section you'll have a Library that can include clipmarks you created as well as those you add from the public. this upload is already way behind sc...

Yes, commas are so much better separators than spaces.

This brings up a problem I've had for a long time now: can I search Clipmarks for clips having more than one tag? Is it possible? How would I search for a clip tagged with not just "apple" or just "technology", but both? I can't get it to work. (eg, when I try searching for "apple, technology", I get the union of clips having those tags when I want the intersection. "apple+technology" returns nothing.)

yes--- please no spaces.

jason, you can use "and", "or" and "not" in your searches and i think that will do what you are asking... For example, "apple or technology" would return all clips that match either apple or technology and "apple and technology" would return all clips that are tagged both apple and technology and lastly, "apple not technology" would return all clips tagged apple but not technology.

As for the spaces seperating tags, I do have one solution that we may or may not implement, depending on everyone's reaction. The thought is that if you enter multiple words, but no commas, then you probably are using spaces as tag delimeters, so we could prompt a box stating something along the lines of "we no...

Ah, of course, boolean operators. Thanks Derek, this was exactly what I was looking for!

OH okay. i didn't know that clipmarks wold 'accept' multi-word tags separated by spaces, then commas... okay, i retract my initial statement. now i understand that because spaces are the standard, it didn't occur to me that with commas, i didn't have to change all my tags to one-word amalgamations...

so now, is there a way to edit our tags?

Yes, there is... You can go to the file menu at the top of any of your clipmarks and choose edit. The window that pops up is basically exactly the same as the clip dialog and will allow you to modify your tags.

god, i love this site! i can be lazy as hell and not even bother to look everywhere for the answers to my silly little quesions, and people will still tell me how things work thank you!

oh and guys, it enthralls and delights me to hear that opera is on the top of your list for future support - you can (and should) take all the time in the world; i was just worried that y'all were of the 'pretend it doesn't exist' mindset... clipmarks is upgraded more regularly than any other site of its kind (whatever you want to call that), at least in my experience, and every new feature always seems to have been tested very well & explained thoroughly. you also pay a LOT of attention to the behavior a...

okay, but can you batch edit tags, like in flickr? for example, in one smooth move, change 'battlestar-galactica' to 'battlestar galactica?'

Not yet, but that is a highly requested feature, so I'm sure it will come sooner or later.
