I recall a quote from Oliver Stone's movie 'Nixon' :

I think this was the only moment in my life, when I remember exactly where I was, with whom, what time it was - when he was shot and when they announced that he was dead.

The fact of the matter is that somebody did conspire to kill him, and as a result he was killed. Where is the conspiracy theory in that?
