There is a persistent idea that ignorance is somehow virtuous. Religion plays a significant role in this recurring view. What other human endeavor values the ability to abandon reason and intellect? Faith is the only one that I can come up with. That's one reason why it is so important for the health and well-being of the world's people that these anachronistic principles be spotted, made public, ridiculed for their primitiveness, and discarded as proper tools to address the world in the 21st Century.
