These shirts were heavy and hot, a player would often end a match with a shirt drenched in sweat, as cotton has no moisture resistant properties. Polyester on the other hand is lightweight, colorfast and shrink resistant. It has natural properties that make it breathable and polyester is great when it comes to the issue of moisture management.
