iulawboy says: The presidents are even using the standard "an 18 year old can vote, fight in the military but they can't have a beer" argument. I'm with the presidents. I'm with MADD on this one. Lowering the drinking age is a cop-out. The drinking age in Wisconsin was 18 for a while, but after a few years it was jacked back up to 21. My sister was pissed because the law was passed when she was over 21 and I was under 18 so she had to wait and I didn't. I read somewhere that on some army bases where drinks are served, anyone in uniform can buy liquor even if they're under 21. If I ever track it down, I'll post the link here. Many European countries either have no official age, or don't enforce the laws, leaving it a family matter. Wine is often served to the whole family at meals in some places. German McDonald's restaurants serve beer and wine. In the US, only one McDonald's serves beer. |
