syncopath says: IAVA - Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans Americans " How did this happen? Simply because the veterans' support system is overwhelmed." "Over 50,000 Iraq veterans have already been diagnosed with PTSD." My oldest son among them- I made a comment before that briefly stated, if it really is us or them, well I pick us- The thing with this administration that I am absolutely positive of is this, If you're gunna put our children's lives in harms way, you better not lie about why- I don't know one way or another if Iraq was a threat to us as a people or as a state, but I do know that George lied about why my son was being shot at for more than a year- and we're left with a mentally broken son that just two years ago was the pride of three generations of our family line- Right in the ass George, all day long- no not even a kiss- this is so sad! no words, sorry. Maybe, waste. One question that is nagging me is if soldiers are more likely to become suicidal or if suicidal people are more likely to be in the service? I do agree, though, that treatment in all respects for veterans is sorely lacking and quite a disgrace. not much words left, i agree righthand. i appreciate your open hearted words dirish. from a personal view the heart is simply broken. from a wide view, of a personal responsibility, i simply don`t know what 2say. i find myself talking to myself this naive thought saying: What should it take for the human race to realize the consequences of war to such a degree so as to drop this animalic option from his scope of behavior .. ?? The major problem here is that this story lacks any evidence to back it up. This wasn't a study done by professionals, it was something CBS came up with in house. There are no demographic break downs to prove what they are alleging in the story. To declare an epidemic based on what little data they have provided would be like me declaring the coming ice age based on how cold my feet got getting the morning paper. The major problem here is that this story lacks any evidence to back it up.Even so, with what evidence there is, that is more than the reason the soldiers were put in harms way in the first place had. There have been a number of other studies which directly contradict CBS's assertions. What they brought up may make it worthy of a real study by an independent firm who knows how to conduct those types of studies, but it isn't worthy declaring an epidemic. That is nothing more than alarmist journalism, which seems to be the way journalist are going these days, and they wonder why ratings and subscriptions are falling. Then again, most folks are not biostatisticians, or statisticians, or even math majors. Remember how you used to check the spelling of a word against a newspaper or magazine, because it MUST be spelled right on them? People do the same for their facts nowadays. Why? Feeling neglected, betrayed, alone and Stranded, the prospect of Oblivion can seem comforting Thanks you all- but he and would both serve again, if the cause was just, we both knew the potential costs- and we're there for him- so with hope he may recover his stability before it costs him more than we can pay- but in spite of my extreme feelings about the current administration, if the man says go- thats really all there is for a lot of us- Every soldier that needs help doesn't have a counter-part that can help. Sad but true. Give me a leader that gives a shit about the lives of his fellow country men, and the citizens of the world, and he wouldn't last a second here with the "good 'ol boy network" running the show, besides last time we had such a man, we nailed him to a tree Old men wage war and young men fight them. This statement has always been so true.I think that it's all been said, waste especially.I can only say that my heart goes out to the victims, both physical and emotional. |
