When I use Turk Telekom's DNS, I can't get to Wordpress.com but I can see the stuff on Clipmarks web site that was clipped from Wordpress blogs (except the broken image links). Thanks for your helps. The images are not broken to me. I think it is really great that clipmarks allows me to help someone a half a world away. Yes, I thought the same thing. The best thing is, Clipmarks can well be a "bridge" to access certain contents for some, under such bloackage or censorship conditions. Of course, as long as Clipmarks is not blocked! I just checked the blog statistics: Many visitors from Clipmarks community in less than half an hour. Thanks folks! Another ridiculous example of censorship on the Internet content, in Turkey. There are hundred thousands of blogs on Wordpress.com and none can be accessed from Turkey now.Thanks for the links. We should never take our Freedom of Speech for granted...at least we still have it. While we have it, we should use it...before the "authorities" cut us off. They can spy on what we read and write online...but they can't stop us from doing it...yet. The power of Clipmarks is astounding! You said it! I've enjoyed following this today. Regarding the Wordpress situation, anyone have any idea why Wordpress was specifically singled out to be blocked? What a terrible shame it is that so much of the world still functions this way. Its very popular in Europe, and it seems by a lot of Turkish bloggers. Or they found something "offensive" and went overboard. I still think it could have been a mistake There was a hijacking today. The only info about the blocking was a comment from a Turkish user on Matt D's (from Wordpress.com) blog and I have just clipped it here. Still there's not an official statement and we only have rumours but apparently a military officer "was spreading critical info on his blog" and the authority acted to stop him. |
