Haha, clipped this too. But I got more pictures from National Geographic... Check it out... The coolest thing in my book is that they found skin samples. With reptiles, the size of the scale varries according to the coloration. So finally we can take a guess at their markings! Which could also tell us a lot about their habitat both their habitat and the nature of their visual perception, since imarkings were presumably camoflauge. Oh, or mating - never rule out sex! The stripes could be sexy in an Adam Ant sort of way. (Wow, that's the second Adam Ant joke I've made on clipmarks... Fantastic article. Appeared in my local paper, which totally blew my mind because they are very conservative religious around here. Seeing terms like "evolution" and "millions of years ago" in a creationist prominent part of Ohio was pretty weird. I'm sure there will be rebuttal "reader's viewpoint" articles on it for the next few weeks. |
