egoldstein says: I love it. They are actually going to defend Bush by claiming that weather reports are never dependable. This isn't the damn local news guy saying it's going to snow tomorrow. This is the head of the National Hurricane Center briefing the president of the united states!!! I could just hear the conversation between George and Laura after the briefing: Laura: "what did they say to you George? Did you understand it all?" George: "sure honey...but you know those weathermen are always wrong. i'm going for a bike ride." About two hundred years ago, scientists (one of them was Benjamin Silliman) gave a briefing to President Thomas Jefferson about meteorits. Silliman became a target for President Thomas Jefferson's derision because Jefferson doubted Silliman's conclusion that a rock fell from the sky. Jefferson was a science hobbyist, but he was also a southern U.S. partisan. The President dismissed Silliman's claim by scoffing, "I would more easily believe that (a) Yankee professor would lie than that stones would fall from heaven."(source: http://www.amsmeteors.org/about.html) Jefferson is among the persons I respect in American history but he neglected to listen scientists just like Geor... Interestingly - I guess we don't need to spend all those tax dollars on hurricane centers and forecasting, etc. if those weather guys are always wrong. I agree with EG -- this was not some local joe weatherman. when will america say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! This is truly absurd...i can't believe that somehow america will end up shrugging their shoulders and BUYING THIS CRAP Even so - if America now say enough - I think there is a clause in the new patriot act that now prohibits impeachment and also allows for more then 2 terms in office after watching the video from this clipmark (http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/CB5DC1FE-BFF3-4F56-B463-8FD283EDCE95/), and hearing the President of the United States actually say: "families is where our nation finds hope...where wings take dream"i suppose that he may have honestly had no idea what the weather man was talking about. if he doesn't even know what he's talking about, how can we expect him to understand what people are telling him? Good point EG. For all we know the briefing might have gone something like this in his mind: National Hurricane Meterologist: "Mr President - exteremly severe hurricanes are definitely on a collision course with New Orleans and sir, we believe ve the amount of impact on the levees and the area will be deadly. We think it is imparitive that you declare a national emergency now." Bush: "Hmmmm....so you all think the rain will be pretty heavy and the winds pretty chilly. I reckon we better make sure people have their boots and unmbrellas and button up." NHM: "Sir -- did you hear what I just said - this is beyond a severe storm - this is a killer storm" Bush: "Ooooh doggie --- don't worry ... I wonder how would it have been, if it was a White City. My clipmarks doesn't work in Firefox anymore, so check this out on the subject: Sammon Excoriates Media on Katrina Video: “Journalistic Fraud” & “Disingenuous” Posted by Brent Baker on March 2, 2006 - 20:26. The media at all levels on Wednesday pounced on video released by the AP of government conference calls held as Hurricane Katrina hit last August, with most stories portraying them as containing a smoking gun about how President Bush was warned about potential levee failure. But as FNC's Brit Hume noted on his show Thursday night, the video, which MSNBC's Hardball hyped Wednesday as “breaking news,” was hardly any such thing, or “confidential video” as the AP hyped, since the video was ... amishsteve (great to see you again), can you try installing the latest version of clipmarks from this page: http://clipmarks.com/beta.htm it's not live on our install page yet just because we've been doing some last minute testing, but i'm pretty positive that it will work for you in Firefox (in Flock too).
