I say keep the dollar and ditch the UN. Why ditch the UN? Cos it doesn't do what the US wants it to do? No, because it is such a crooked organization. It's chocked full of theives, it has misplaced priorities. It passes resolutions it has no intentions of enforcing. It puts sub-human rights people over human rights committees. It has nothing to do with 'it doesn't do what the US wants'......why complain about that now....seems that has been the norm far many years. I just do not like the idea of (US) helping fund such an unorganized, misdirected organization. You should read up on the UN history and you will find that the US has done a damn good job of sabotaging every good thing that the UN has done, even refusing to pay their quota of money into the UN when they didn't like the decisions it took. And who on earth are the sub-human rights people? If there were no such things as vetoes by US and Russia, etc. the UN may well have worked much better if the biggies didn't sabotage it from the beginning!!! And I trust the UN much more than I trust Globalization from the big US multinationals!! Oh really, I suppose you agree with all the vetos by Russia and China on major issues and are only opposed to those vetoed by the US. I know just how crooked and worthless they are, you seem to want to cheerlead for them and that's fine. However many in the US wish we'd boot them out of the country and quit wasting money on them. If there were no such things as vetoes by US and Russia, etc. the UN may well have worked much better if the biggies didn't sabotage it from the beginning!!! is what I said above, what part of that text did you not understand dl211??? I NEVER even insinuated that I support Russia or China, so get a brain please!!! I said I prefer the UN not to have any vetoes at all!!! And if the US don't like the UN, why don't they just leave them to their own devices instead of putting obstacles in their way all the time!! I say ditch the dollar. I'm Canadian and in my country I want to deal in Canadian dollars not the U.S. dollar. And if the US don't like the UN, why don't they just leave them to their own devicesI thought that was the point I made. Pegging everything to the dollar standard gives the U.S. and unfair advantage. No matter what banks will continue to buy dollar reserves thus artificially buoying up the currency regardless of actual value versus other currencies. Best is to ditch both, US Dollar and UN, and rebuild a new International system based on love and respect for all. I say keep the UN, and ditch the USA. They do nothing but start wars and throw their weight around. Yassin: Totally agree, unfortunately there are always those who feel nothing but power and hate and who want to control the world Darkforce: A leopard never changes its spots no? yeh, the dollars done it`s dash and it`s hugely over valued, so eventually it`ll drop like a stone. places like China tho who hold a mountain of dollars, gotta keep on buying and propping it up or they`re in trouble. could be a nasty business all around. @darkforce - wait a minute. If you ditch the U.S. then you ditch me and a whole lot of people who have fought and struggled for years against the worst U.S. policies. It's been a hard fight and now we have Obama. He isn't perfect, but a step in the right direction. My country isn't perfect, but goodness, let's all work together. Besides, I'd never say that we should ditch your country. @ Zizzy: http://www.cognitivepolicyworks.com/2009/03/13/a-politics-that-works-in-the-21st-century/ This article says that Obama is the right man, lets hope he can undo some of the damage which has been done during the past years, including Nixon, Reagan, etc.periods of havoc across the globe!!! No, Zizzy. Canada will be glad to take the sensible Americans in, and let them enjoy living in a country where you don't have to check your wallet before you head off to the doctor when you or your family is sick or injured; where people with money don't leap to the head of the line before people who may need specific treatment more than them. Obama is definitely a good start. He's going to be busy undoing a lot of damage that Bush has done, but we have to face facts. 1) He's only human. He's going to make mistakes. Fortunately, he's open to other people's views and opinions, so hopefully those mistakes will be few and far between. 2) He's going to have to do some very unpopular things t... yes, and the Right wing types aren`t just going to roll over and let change happen - `it`s Socialism !!` There are lots of people of goodwill in the States, but most of them live in such a parochial bubble, that I don`t think they understand their options. darkforce - Canada - so lovely. Re: Bob Rae - so Canadians are memory deficient too when it comes to politics. That's how we ended up with Bush. People forgot about how life sucked under trickle-down economics. And so here we are - AGAIN - but much worse. If Obama suffers the same fate and people put conservatives back in control of the Federal government, I might have to leave the U.S. forever. Life is too short and interesting to spend on the same old track. |
