chestnut501 says: The 10th Amendment’s limit on the power of the federal government is being ignored. Feds are ignoring voter mandated decriminalization of using marijuana the way nature intended it to be used too. Voters say we want it legal, feds say you don't matter. I would be amazed if this legislation passes the Democratic, Unionized, Obama disciples we have in Lansing. But, they did shock me with passing the changes to handgun ownership and the Castle Doctrine (stating I can defend myself and my family without having to guess if the criminal's weapon is bigger than mine). So, though actually worthless, at least it makes a point. Washington needs more points shown to them. You're right, this legislation probably won't pass but at least it's drawing attention to the fact that the government is misusing it's power. Hopefully more states will pick up on this. The more noise we make, the more likely we are to get attention. They'll know that the people are not going to set back and just take any crap they throw at us. For the most part the Civil War decided the issue as has the Supreme Court in multiple occasions. Federal beats State. Decriminalizing drugs, for example at the State level simply means that state law enforcement won't deal with the matter, that in no way prevents federal law enforcement from applying federal law. Then again the whole 10th amendment thing has a very sketchy history, only coming into play when those who were in power loose it at the federal level but when they regain it they are all about using it in all states regardless of what they said the day, week or year before. The arrogance of government bureaucrats is astounding to see. Similar things are happening in the FDA, EPA, CDC... you name it. i think its a republic |
