all people who want to get married, get divorced, buy a new car, or
build a house would have to plant a certain amount of trees to offset
their activity

Amazing idea...If America picked up this idea, can you
imagine the millions of trees that would be planted to offset our society, a society where divorces happen too often and people are quick to buy a car they don't need or tear down a house instead of trying to rehab it. It is almost symbolic,
giving back to nature what you take away.
