You know, that kind of stuff happens all too often. Here in CT that guy could get 25 years for EACH of the victims. Why is it that in those incidents that the drunk never gets hurt???

That poor family. And the horror felt by all those who tried unsuccessfully to stop him when they learned what he had done.

@mooner-one - there is a medical reason drunk drivers tend not to get hurt in accidents. I will explain under the condition that I will not get blasted for appearing to be an advocate for drunk driving.

It is a crime that these drunk drivers get off so easily. My husband is a firefighter/paramedic officer and if he got caught drunk he would lose his job. He sees so many deaths and serious injuries due to drunk drivers. I guess I can understand a first offense if it's not that bad, but the killing of young children (and others) it truly a crime. They should not be out on the road.

And people fight to keep alcohol a legal drug and pot illegal. I don't smoke pot, but I'd rather have stoners on the road than drunks.
