“It astonishes me to find… [that so many] of our countrymen… should be contented to live under a system which leaves to their governors the power of taking from them the trial by jury in civil cases, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of commerce, the habeas corpus laws, and of yoking them with a standing army. This is a degeneracy in the principles of liberty… which I [would not have expected for at least] four centuries.” –Thomas Jefferson, 1788

There is an ongoing annual poll conducted in which people are quizzed on portions of constitutional law without being told the sources. In 2002, 49% said that the first amendment "went too far". In 2007, that number went down to 25%, but that's still distresingly high.

Replace the Stalinistic Pledge of Allegiance in schools with daily lessons on the US Constitution and its Amendments, as well as the Charter of Rights. Don't stop until every kid graduating grade 8 knows his or her rights forwards, backwards and sideways

This site is one of my recent favorites. I am getting a huge kick out the moron POPpers of this clip who have no idea the implications of the Tenth Amendment and how spectacularly ignorant they are of the Tenth Amendment in just about every opinion they utter. More proof we are enduring an era of complete stupidity.

The tenth amendment does not give the states any power in areas where the Federal Government has been given power. What, exactly, is your twisted interpretation of the 10th Amendment, Willhelm, the Chickenhearted?
