It was 70 degrees in NYC on Jan 6th, 2007. and it snowed in Australia over Christmas (when usually it's in the high 30's (c). How can people still say the climate's not changing? The climate is ALWAYS changing. It is those who think the climate should never change that have the problem. im loving the warm winter weather here in ohio. loving it. yep, me to - in Michigan. 50 degrees F on Christmas Day. Sitting outside with my cup o java (should have been a mojito) and soaking up the warmth. El Nino weather phenomenon yep, me to - in Michigan. 50 degrees F on Christmas Day.I always love these subjective arguments for global warming. The warmth we are experiencing is actually proof global warming is not happening... for about a dozen reasons, 2 of which are a) This season is unusually warm and global warming is not projected to have immediate effects, this is proof of anomoly and current pattern of warming trend we have experienced in the past several years. If a green house effect were heating the planet, the changes would not be noticeable this quickly (proof of anomoly). Also, tropospheric temperatures havce still not increased, this is required for a green-house effect. Third, ocea... Interesting. None of the comments above mention the terms "global warming" or "greenhouse gases" but you still find a way to attack climate issues. People here talks about the "climate change", not particularly "global warming". Climate is changing Willhelm, regardless of the "subjective arguments", or the mounting evidence that flow around the world, coming from numerous climatologists, oceanographists, geologists and meteorologists (which you deliberately choose to ignore.) If you insist on denying this so passionately, its your choice - like "faith". Wow climate is changing.? That is remarkable!! This is a phenomenon that must truly be studied. I am unaware of any instances in geologic history where this has occured. Aha, Wilhelm. Then please tell me how these things can happen. I am very interested because I was so stupid to believe that there is a massive climate change going on really quickly and that it might be caused by us, the human race. Well Funana, You have been misled. Yes climate is changing. That is what climate does. First. The IPCC reports, which are the UN studies on climate and anthropogenic green house gases, state clearly they have "NO" eveidence of an anthropogenic green house house effect. Yet, the IPCC Summary for policy makers is a political document which misrepresents the report and is used by politicians and journalists to further an agenda. Second, Surface temperatures are taken from locations around the Earth, which lead to false representation of actual global temps. For example over 80 % of climate stations are located in the Northern Hemisphere and are generally concentrated around metropolitan are... sixth, and very important. Our weather is affected most by Solar irradiation. As it happens, solar irradiation is at the highest levels ever measured. This promotes the increase of one very important greenhouse gas....ocean evaporation. keep searching Wilhelm, Thanks a lot! I am truely interested in this and really appreciate any clips about this topic. And I always hear "both" sides - if there are so. Climate Change is no political issue in my eyes, maybe in America you still fight that "conservatives vs. the greens" fight - here in germany we seem all to agree that we have to take care of our environment and to reduce CO². It's not only about "global warming" it' about allergies, asthma, and corrosion of monuments and old buildings... But I still have the question about what makes the climate change that fast. As far as I know thre has never been a climate change that happend that quickly. Good to hear funana, and just for the record there are probably very few people that love nature as much as I do and live as climate-friendly as myself. I suspect I am more "green" than most that claim to believe in global warming and would never suggest otherwise to others. Yeah. I love this cartoon with the "stop global warming" sticker on the bumper of an fat SUV... Good to hear that you practise what you dont preach Wow climate is changing.? That is remarkable!! This is a phenomenon that must truly be studied. I am unaware of any instances in geologic history where this has occured. Then I'm glad you begin to learn something. exactly....all of the arguments the conservatives throw at people (we have had warm periods before) do not account for the fact that NEVER before has the RATE of temperature increase been this high. I am not talking about this year, a tremendously anomalous year, but the trend in general. The AVERAGE temp is increasing at a quicker rate than it ever has in the past, when it has taken tens of thousands of years to do so. AVERAGE temp is increasing at a quicker rate than it ever has in theThis is just NOT true. The Hockey Stick graph has been proven false and I don't even think Al Gore still touts it. Secondly, when climate shifts, it usually shifts in dramatic fashion. There is nothing man-made about global warming. As far as you go Invictus... The one that is learning is YOU. You are not aware of the facts if you say that I am befinning to learn something. Sounds like you are stuck in your propaganda hype, and really not interested in others views. Sorry to hear that. If you were more open-minded, you would more fully understan... It's ironic to hear you talking about a "propaganda hype" or "being open-minded". You see the whole thing as a political conflict and tend to ignore all the facts and reports & researches. It maybe unnecessary and unuseful to say this but I've been dealing with climate issues for five years now, have been an active member of CCNet (which also has many "nay-saying" members on climate change) and have had many correspondences with some climatology and oceanography institutes in this time period, including Woods Hole (WHOI), not to mention about 300 papers, reports and journal articles I have read and have been keeping in my archive in PDF format. The truth is, our planet's climate is in an "... sorry ... the last sentence was beyond comment limits: ..from the catastrophic change that is about to come. You see the whole thing as a political conflict and tend to ignore all the facts and reports & researches.Wrong again Invictus. I ONLY am concerned with the science, not flat-earth materialist philosophy disguised as science. Whatever irony you find in my views is proof you are not subject to reality, as you have nothing on which to base irony. Unless it is your subjective presumptions that again are misguiding you. Which is proof of flawed thinking. You are incorrigible, stuck in a pardigm that disallows the use of logic and science, instead renders consensus as an ideal, when the science suggests otherwise. Continue living in 1491 if you want. There is still the the ... |
