In 2003 he moved back to his hometown of Wausau and attended the University of Wisconsin Marathon County before transferring to UW-Madison, where he recently completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. As a baby and small child, Shaun fought and survived cancer that almost took his life. He overcame all odds against him and was our miracle child, our gift from God. We believe that overcoming this adversity made him appreciate life in an uncommonly enthusiastic way. It also motivated him to want to become a doctor so he could save lives, just as doctors had worked so hard to save his life. He was always smiling and had little patience for those around him "wasting their time" in idle activity. He had an insatiable curiosity and quest for knowledge and understanding, which made him an excellent student and a fascinating young man. He was very generous and always put his friends and family ahead of himself.
