America's Sacred Democracy??? Just shows how dumbed down we have become by our media. This country is a Republic....remember the words "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands..." Our history has been rewritten by tyrants. Democracy is nothing more then mob rule. Read up people. This country is still worth fighting for but everyone needs to know what it is that they are fighting for in the first place.

The differences between a Democracy and a Republic are much greater then semantics. The definitions are not interchangeable. "These two forms of government: Democracy and Republic, are not only dissimilar but antithetical, reflecting the sharp contrast between (a) The Majority Unlimited, in a Democracy, lacking any legal safeguard of the rights of The Individual and The Minority, and (b) The Majority Limited, in a Republic under a written Constitution safeguarding the rights of The Individual and The Minority;". When we start governing with a democracy mindset, you get the societal state that we have now. The other parts of your comment were confusing and need to be clarified before I reply.

Mm It's complicated to make things simple but I,ll start with what I feel.I think our Parliamentary should have a Bill of Rights like the USA does as well as laws to protect civil liberties. In a our system the rights of a minority are (our divergence) are often very powerful when they hold balance of power in the upper house (senate) these can be the Greens, Family First, (Quasi religious conservatives) one issue independents.Deals are done with them between left and right & once center Party( Democrats)
My personal observations of US Politicians is that they are a millionaires club not representative of the people and they would be better served with compulsory voting so special interest g...

@ xtrahull ,,China should be coaxed into acting like she wants to as a responsible world power ( she is tied economically to you) so to please work with us stop trouble making in Sudan( her oil Ok) but arms trade all over is crap Burma Nth Korea she can influence with goods & USA, SAME THING SWEDEN, FRANCE, UK,Forgot Israel RUSSIA..
Similarly KGB thugs in the Kremblin can influence Iran and region if not threaghtened by US all around it.
US also has to stop proliferation of nukes ie India,s deal power yes,, phase out all nukes.
Weed out US corruption .Rats in the ranks in states in Wall ST, Pentagon FBI, Whitehouse need weeding out like Kissinger & cronies,Book talks about privatised age...

Thank you so much for this clip, chedare, the pretense that there was an extensive and meaningful Coalition keen for the war in Iraq was one of those Big Lies that left many of us speechless, at a loss for words.

I took issue with this charade myself, at times, but it was not easy to put a dent in it's facade and under the umbrella term of "coalition," a lot of extra evil was able to be done. So I'm glad to see that someone has put some time and energy into what sounds like a comprehensive challenge to the whole pretense.

True, too, that the media using this term for six or seven years helped cover-up the truth of a U.S. led and mainly only British (& Australian) meaningful military suppor...

It is true that fascist would like to write and re-write our history; and would like to prevent the truth being told but I see many strong voices resisting that and working for the truth to be told, like the author in this clip. (although I have not yet read all his material). But he sounds like he's against the "tyrants," and fascist, or those who went by the name these days as self-described 'neocons."

You can Google "neocons," and probably come up with a good list of names and specific incidents...events that need :redress of grievances," and which many people are now working to see happen.

The profound changes in policies in the mere first five weeks of the Obama Administration have b...

Wasn't calling the author a dumb American..sorry if it sounded that way. I just mean that until people wake up and realize that the media has force fed us this word "democracy" for the past 40 years, that we will never be able to come together to accomplish anything because it keeps the population in general, uneducated on how our system really works. Mob rule is not what we want is it?

As far as this new administration goes, good luck. It is a good facade but it is no more then giving a tyrant a face-lift.

If you want our foreign policy to change, then we have to stop with the whole "democracy" charade and trying to spread it around the world.

I was trying to avoid the political tie in...

And as a side note: whatever I say in criticism of this book can in no way be directed towards the poster of this clip because he is not the author. Didn't mean to get into a personal battle with the poster. I appreciate you giving us access and knowledge of this information. Thank you Chedare.

A Republican form of goverment is a democratic form of goverment so the term democracy is apt. What you are talking about is a direct Democracy, which is different but not so much that it invalidates the democratic foundations of a Republic.

@xrahull ,,no worries I also think That Texan(Republican) Ron PAUL was great every time we saw him in talks I had an idea he was running for President early on and he would have had my vote! His middle east stuff was cool,, I,n away Australia gets too much of same US programming early morning show, senate inquiries same run of TV shows Letterman 7 (24) top show 9 &10 drive Fords GMH battling imports, so I hope it not seem too strange that I post US clips as like it or not we have more that binds us than divide us having grown up on same music etc. Bloody Kennith Copland on box at moment Grrrr ha ha travel friend. .

@ ratilifar hi thnx democratic way of life sounds more my cuppa tea than Totalitarian(China) any way & what ever Russia calls their form of democratic process they seem to kill their reporters off with alarming regularity.

@ ratilifar this is true. But people need to stop "replacing" the word Republic with the word Democracy. It has been ingrained into our society. Tell me how many times you have heard, "This is a democracy, majority rules."? Or how many times have you heard someone say "We aren't voting on this this isn't a democracy." These are just comments that people make without realizing what they are really saying but it does go to show that we have been bombarded with this terminology so much that it is now "assumed" that we are under a direct democracy. Go and ask 10 of your peers what kind of a government we live under and see how many answer Republic and how many answer Democracy. Then ask them to ...
