The answer to the question "when has the Labour party transformed?" is "never", when it comes to its patterns of dealing with Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and "in the mid 1980s, just like most Labour parties in the west" when addressing its stance on social and economic issues. Neither Israel nor the USA has faced up to the fact that the dream of Zionists is utterly contradictory to the founding dream of the USA: a completely religious government that will grant no political rights to non-Jews. A one-state solution is anathema because Arabs would have to be represented in government, and most Zionists want government to be strictly the domain of the state religion. The USA should be actively opposing curbs on religious freedom, not sponsoring client states that have religious discrimination as the sine qua non of their nation. |
