The birth certificate controversy has been around for most of this last year. Do you honestly believe that, if there were any shred of truth to it, Obama would be where he is now?

The clip rather distorts the point of the article, perhaps unintentionally. The Times is writing those initial paragraphs tongue-in-cheek. It details how the USSC has already declined to hear a case similar to this. And it dwells at length on the fact that this is not a hearing about whether Obama should be blocked from the presidency, but about whether it's worth spending USSC time talking about the suit. The Times thinks it highly unlikely that any further investigation will happen.

How BHO's birth announcement got in the Honolulu newspaper 40-some years ago, were he not born in Hawaii, remains unaddressed. Doubtless the CIA had already decided BHO should be president in 2009 and planted it there. Ri-i-ight.
