We have been looking for expressions in genes that have physical properties, because they are easier to identify, and trace. The genes that affect character are more subtle, and their involvement is harder to measure. The primary problem is that with character gene variations is hard if not impossible to subject them to scientific method with examples that can be repeated beyond reasonable doubt. Perhaps this will change if we change our approach, by first establishing there is something to look for. Examples of successful research have been where physical pathway variations in the brain have been seen to be linked to some psychological disorders to the point where what was found was used to relieve the disorder.
The more we understand, the more we will find there is to understand.
