thisnamecantbetaken says: Read the whole story, straight from the horse's mouth. It's just unacceptable what's going on in Iraq. This does NOT sound like a one off offense to me either! Neither did Abu Ghraib. I'm not buying it! What's going on with these people! Aren't we supposed to be the good guys?? Good grief, no wonder they all hate us... I just read the whole story. It is beyond words how terrible this is. I find it impossible to rationalize. The story says it all. As for me, I'm speechless. I speed read Joshua Key's book at Barnes and Noble and was inspired to clip all this. I hope Canadians would find compassion in their hearts and would allow him to stay there. I'm going to add awol to my tags too. . I have always found it odd how the lefties who claim to support our troops were always so fast to believe anything bad said about them while ignoring those who disagree. Another soldier's view and cursory investigation into Key's "Tall Tales." Have you found the proof of world being flat, yet? I'm sure you will, if you search enough. Your link didn't work out n2. Mythbusted. 37 Military Recruiters Go AWOL Do you know what? I don't think this guy's story's too far off the mark. This isn't the first time we've heard about gross misconduct and unjustified violence and so on. Remember that young 15 year-old Iraqi girl who was raped and murdered along with her whole family? Or Abu Ghraib? The Iraqi guy who was "playing dead" and got a bullet in his head? Torture? Rape? Or tons of other similar stories like that we've all heard about done by our side? Soldiers who would do that sort of terrible thing that this guy claims, will definit... Have you found the proof of world being flat, yet?hahaha I love it that you used that comment inside this clip hahahahaha. Your link didn't work out n2. Mythbusted. So, you think ten a year is a lot? I saw a story the other day how the military had to adjust their AWOL numbers up (you know, like how employment numbers are generally adjusted a few months after the fact), and they were making a huge deal about that adjustment. But if you dug deeper you found out that desertions were about average even after the upward adjustment. You see, you get these stories like this that try to sensationalize something that is pretty much normal. And I am sure that of those who desert every year, some are recruiters. Now, can you show me some evidence that ten or so per year is an... Ten what? AWOL's? Oh, I think it's much more and it is definitely not just 'average'. I'll clip something for you. . As for not reading the rest of your link, you're right. The blogger was not a very credible source when he claims high and low he can't find a peep on recruiters AWOLing. I google it and find tons in 0.002 seconds. His credibility wasn't too good at that point, so I couldn't be bothered reading the rest honestly. Here's a little excerpt from what I just clipped: The Ministry of Defence estimates there have been 10,000 AWOL incidents since the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and 1100 servicemen are currently "on the run" from the Army, the programme reports. But you expect others to read your articles from commondreams.org? Ten what? AWOL's? Oh, I think it's much more and it is definitely not just 'average'.You linked a story that said 37 recruiters had gone AWOL. If you read it you saw that it was over a 3 1/2 year period which comes out to about 10 per year. Your number, not mine (I do bother to read what other people link even if I don't trust the source). Now, how about some real numbers? Here is a nice gloomy story from the NYT about how the Army had to adjust it's desertion numbers upwards. B... Oh, I just grabbed the first link, to show that this guy hadn't searched high and low and there were tons of other links I could have chosen instead. That was random. Would you seriously like me to find you a better one? But the DoD numbers do say a little bit more than 10 a year, don't you reckon? And why are they running? Hmm...yes, it makes you wonder, doesn't it. Are they all just cowards...or are they running for not wanting to join in on some of the atrocities that are oh so uncommon, (because you where there, everywhere there, at all times too apparently so you know everything there is to know about it.) I've heard other grim tales from other vets too, not just this guy. Heck, I'v... I have no blindfold. I have been there and done that, what experience do you have? I'm guessing none other than sitting here reading liberal hate blogs and believing every negative word they say about our military. Sorry, but with supporters like you, who need enemies. Our magnificent military are doing a superb job under very difficult conditions. Liberals are cowards, and no matter how you paint it they will always find some excuse to avoid doing their duty. As in WWII, they should be given a swift military tribunal and shot. God bless our brave and patriotic troops! Oh gimme a break and quit waving that phony little flag of patriotism at me! Sheesh, you're like little annoying blowflies. If YOU really supported the troops, you would be doing your utmost to ensure that no other young men and women have to see the same shit you did n2! You would be making sure they didn't become troops at all! You sit there, well aware of the utterly horrific carnage going on over there and you want to send even MORE troops and 1000's more civilians to their deaths?!? Patriotic and brave indeed. You can sit there and wave your stars and stripes and convince yourself that you were a part of some bold and nobel war. I find it repulsive. Actually, I think we have been very restrained in this action. We should have killed many more of those vermin. Cowardly muslims understand one thing - power. You show your power and kill them until capitulate and you have no more war. It is the cowardly liberal approach that emboldens them to keep fighting. Kill them and keep killing them... annihilate them until they surrender unconditionally. That is how you should fight a war. I support Bush and our admiistration, and the only fault I can find with them is they didn't prosecute this battle with enough vigor and slaughter more of these vermin. You prove why this war is so wrong and how there are people that can commit the most heinous atrocities in the name of their country, just as the clip implied. Slaughter more vermin?? Tell me, are you even human?!? How can you dare even say something like that? These are mostly innocent civilians, children and women! Kids for God's sake! (Sheesh, your Mum must be so proud of you.) Go be nauseating somewhere else please. You are being extremely distasteful and racist. I don't want to listen to that. The killing going on there now is nothing compared to what it would be if we pulled out. You don't give a crap about them as people, you care only about yourself. On the plus side, the surge is working so well that the Iraqi government is expanding the same techniques to other cities. You don't give a crap about them as people, you care only about yourself.Oh, this is precious! Are you serious?? This coming from a cold-hearted war-mongering neo-con like you n2? You, who wallows in death and destruction and mocks and laughs at the suffering of others? Did you also enjoy torturing and ripping the heads off small animals when you were little? <shudder> YOU on the other hand care oh so much, that you're willing to slaughter who knows how many innocent people, without any caring or compassion, all for your own twisted and greedy right wing agenda? You dare call yourself a soldier? A hero? You were probably no better than the sickos described in the clip. You'... You refer to people who stick kids in cars in order to get past check points and then leave those kids in the cars when they blow them up to kill other civilians as innocents? Yes, I agree with you. Any connections between your reality and mine is purely coincidental. In my world we refer to those people as terrorists and killing them before they kill civilians is a good thing while leaving them unchecked to carry on a wholesale slaughter is not. |
