While they would certainly mouth the sentiment you express, how often do they put such sentiment into action? The Left is very quick to jump on those who deviate from the "party line". Witness the treatment of Charlton Heston or Tom Selleck in recent years. Sorry but Rosie demonstrates anything but 'tact and civility'. Her ramblings and accusations are nothing short of ludicrous. And as the author pointed out, this affects greatly the average 'joe six pack' audience they seem to cater directly to. People of higher intelligence will always sort the wheat from the chaff, but they are not the only ones who get to vote are they? These so-called stars should concentrate more on accountability and real fact finding before they pollute the general populace with their personal agendas. Actually, I will concede that this raises an interesting point. After all, the impact of a voice should be weighed before it is raised. Although I may politically agree with them, there are many celebrities on the left who I wish would say less instead of more, if only because it diminishes the cause they are trying to advocate. However, if we were to debate the quality of articulation in political opinions, I defy you to name any public figure these days who truly rises above the filth and the muck. In the end, I can't say I hold politicians in much higher regard than actors. What I argue is not that Rosie O'Donnel or Sean Penn are model spokespeople, or worthy of one's respect. Instead,... |
