AcesLucky says: False prophecy New Testament: 1st Century "…there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." I could see how you might think this is false- it sounds wrong, doesn't it? BUT- that is only if you think that Christ's Kingdom is the same as the second coming or the end of the age, and it isn't. The Kingdom of Christ is the world after His death and rising from the dead( although some will say that it did not occur until Pentacost- but nobody "saw" Him at Pentacost). Therefore- the prophecy is correct and has been fulfilled. BUT- that is only if you think that Christ's Kingdom is the same as the second coming or the end of the age, and it isn't.You are right. It isn't. It has only to do with the people to whom he (Jesus) was speaking at the time. There has been no second coming, and they are dead. Or are you saying that the second coming HAS happened, before they died? Did anybody see a second coming? Did it happen already? The end of times came and went...and nobody noticed? "Therefore- the prophecy is correct and has been fulfilled."Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. All nations saw the clouds part and Jesus coming down riding a white horse, with the sound of trumpets (trumpets?), and ...... The coming of the Kingdom is synonymous with the beginning of the church. No- it didn't happen with parting clouds or trumpets or any of that, and that has not happened yet. THAT( where there are trumpets- which is figurative-and the coming down from heaven) is the second coming- at the end of the age, not the beginning of his kingdom.BTW- he isn't the rider on the white horse, the AntiChrist is presumed to be..... This Kingdom came into being after his atoning sacrifice which allows us to enter his kingdom, when we to treat him as our king, and receive his gift of salvation. Christ's Kingdom has come- it is his church. When he rose again, this was his coming into his kingdom. Yes, most of... The coming [in his] Kingdom is synonymous with the beginning of the church? That's funny. You'd think that if that's what it meant, then that's what it would say. Yes- but in the same passages of scripture, about the Kingdom, Jesus is telling them that he is speaking in parables, and figurative language. AL, Have you ever thought that it might be beneficial as a defender of Atheism to at least understand that which you criticize. The constant stream of hate against Christianity is tiring. It seems you really have no interest in understanding the theology about the points in Christianity of which you are critical. Perhaps, just take a step back and consider the possibility that you do not really understand what you are talking about. Research the theology behind the doctrine and come to the table with an intellectual argument. It would be a nice change. Better yet, come to the table with a rational argument. Intellectual arguments are of little value. |
