BitDrifter says:
Army Commendation Medal

He is part of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit in Iraq which has "cleared out more than 250 improvised explosive devices and conducted more than 700 combat missions."

From another Article:
"The group of airman stationed in Baghdad -- Anthony Homerlein, David Kuric, John Wawrzynski and Scott White -- played key roles in the hunt for two kidnapped soldiers in June, "ultimately disarming several booby traps directly targeting responders attempting to recover and repatriate the remains" of the soldiers."

I am definitely proud to be related to him, and hope he continues to be safe; he just re-enlisted for another 4 years.

He is to be commended for performing an extraordinarily
dangerous job. If not for the courageous efforts of troops
like your cousin, there would be causalities and injuries
by the dozens a week. Our guys are the best trained,
most disciplined in the world.
That's really awesome.

It was a sad day and we all felt sorry for our Polish friends who had lost their comrades.

I remember waiting alongside the highway a few times when possible IEDs were located, we waited for EOD to arrive and either detonate or clear the road before we continued. Sometimes this took quite awhile since EOD was so busy. Regardless of where you are in Iraq, when a big explosion was heard, we all looked at our watches, if ...
