He is smart and far-sighted politician. Where is the shame?

The REAL Napster
Obama said he’d like to release up to 10 percent of the 700 million barrels of oil kept in salt caverns in Texas and Louisiana.
First off, they call it the Strategic Reserve for a reason. If the Iranians (or others) decide (for whatever reason) to block the Straits of Hormuz, the U.S. has approx a 30 day supply of crude on hand. This creates a nice little buffer should the supply of oil imported be cut by acts of men or bad weather (like Hurricanes, for instance). 10% of that reserve will last what? 3 days? Talk about grasping at straws. He is trying in vain to reverse direction on his mishandling of the current oil drilling situation and failing miserably.

This is possibly the most mis-informed thing you've said yet. Did you get this from Glen Beck or what?

At present, a very small percentage of crude used in the US comes out of the strait. I'd be more worried about Venezuela than Iran, but then there are plenty of arms for the US to twist if they get too far out of line, so no need to scream about them on the nightly news.

He is an opportunist. He was supposed to be a transcendent figure. He seems to have no core beliefs.

You, really are mentally challenged, aren't you. If Iran attempts any such tactic as blocking the Straits of Hormuz, [url=http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/Persian_Gulf/Background.html](of whch 20% of the world's oil su...

Question to ask Obama and the house dems. If releasing oil from the strategic petroleum reserve would lower prices, why wouldn't drilling for oil do the same? Both would increase oil supply, but drilling would provide much more oil over the long term while the reserve is a limited supply that would later have to be replenished.
