Yup, that's ubuntu, running some of the new eyecandy.

When I took a break from running linux as my desktop at home, I did so because X.org just wasn't up to par. It couldn't figure out my dual screen setup, and forget about any sort of acceleration or 3D, even with a popular ATI card.

Now, just a little over 2 years later, major strides are being made! I popped in a new ubuntu distro to set up a print-server box and was extremly surprised to find it auto-detected and configured my monitors out of the box.

I truly can't believe how amazing this stuff is starting to look. Not only is linux beginning to compete, graphics-wise, on the desktop, it's actually surpassing both OS X and Vista in ...

I wouldn't be surprised if the openness of the platform leads to it becoming a breeding ground for innovative operating system UI ideas.
