I would say he is not pro-gay, just tolerant of it as, I believe, most Americans.

Gay people have the same rights as all of us -- However, our government (as it has done countless times in the past with blacks - seperate but equal, women - suffrage, etc. etc.) hasn't realized it yet.

In a free society people of sound-mind and consenting age have the right to enter into any legal agreement they wish. The state shouldn't discriminate against 2 penises or 2 vaginas any more than it should discriminate against black and white.
