This CMS really rocks! I love it!

Drupal is very popular and fine as a community software but I always prefer Mambo/Joomla as a CMS.

I know Joomla but since I do everything with Drupal I am very satisfied.
As an SEO I can say: Better not use Joomla. The pages look nice but it's very ugly unaccessible code.

But I know what you mean: With Drupal it was not easy to customize the look of the frontpage and so on. You had to install modules for that, while in Joomla you could switch content blocks to wherever you wanted by default.

Have you tried Drupal allready?

Yes, two years ago I tried it for some months. It was quite good for an interactive, multiuser community with various options. But what I was looking for a CMS with more flexible customization options. I mean, I didn't need comments, blogs, interactive communication etc. I wanted just an easy to modify system with an effective management, to enter news, articles and interviews to an online publication. Mambo worked quite good, except some minor details.

Then you have to try it again because it is so much better now! The 5.0 comes with a core CCK (Content Creation Kit) function that allows exactly what you need.
You can disable all the functions you dont need (blogs, comments etc.).

If you can - check it out!

Drupal is great for communities I'm extremely happy with wordpress as a CMS for most of my needs, but if developing something with more community interaction in mind, drupal is the way to go.

Eric, I love Wordpress for blogs, it's great. And there are a lot of modules for WP that are very useful. Have you ever tried S9Y (http://www.s9y.org)? I want to try this because a lot of people find S9Y better than WP, but I actually have no blog project to test it...

Hmm - no I haven't tried that one. I took a couple for a spin when transitioning from blosxom to wordpress, but that's the first I've heard of s9y.

If I remember it right, it was 4.2 After reading the clip and your comment, I decided to give it a try.

Also, thanks for the s9y link. It looks very neat. But the advantage of Wordpress is, free blog hosting I think. Installing PHP software on servers is a real headache, you know what I mean.

Writing Drupal modules is a delight.
