A strongly-worded editorial from the Baptist Studies Center on why Congressman-elect Ellison ought to be allowed to use the Qur'an for his swearing-in ceremony, and why religious freedom and disestablishmentarianism are historically key Baptist principles.

Of all people―OF ALL PEOPLE―we Baptists ought to understand and endorse Ellison’s call for free expression of religion!
A poignant rallying cry against the swelling tides of antidisestablishmentarianism....

Too bad the Baptists don't belive in equality for wives!!

>"A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation."<

They use the word "equal" here but the entire passage negates that concept. I taunt my Baptist sister about this and she punches me.

I believe the submissive woman stuff was passed only by the Southern Baptists. There are a bunch of Northern Baptists who aren't bound by it at all.

Anyway, it's nice to see a minister from a conservative Christian denomination speaking out against the craziness of his brethren.
