benjaminoaks says: The jam was meant to instigate, to irritate, but to do so inconspicuously. The copy is mildly ironic because it mimics the expression, "I love a good cup of coffee" and loyal Starbucks patrons might not even catch the significance of the word "invasion" thinking the jam just another advertisement. i'm hoping for some competition in this space...i was a loyal starbucks customer for quite a while but i'm really not into it anymore. for some reason when i'm in there i feel like a rat in an experiment. waiting 6 minutes for a cup of coffee that i have to then prepare how i like...while paying $3 for it is just not making sense to me anymore. Starbucks is way over-rated. It's all about the yuppy thing. Alot of my friends are baristas @ the lil coffee chops and they're always saying how BAD their coffee is. I actually like it. But I feel as a large corporation they should be held to a business ethic. They are involved in super aggressive marketing and aim to shut out the local coffee shops wherever they go and they are known for there lack of support for sustainable agricultire in the lands they "rape" for their beans... but for me it really comes down to the fact that I'm SO sick of seeing a Starbucks @ EVERY SINGLE corner!!! I live in Center City Philly and there are lick 12 of them in a 4 block RADIUS!!! Yes I think the frequency which Starbucks (the key on BUCKS) is in our face is getting out of hand Ben. It is akin to 7/11s nowadays. there are 4 starbucks within 1 block of our office..nuts! |
