FalconHunter says: I wasn't able to get everything I wanted into the clip, but it has the most important parts. I think it's crazy news stations are going around changing wikipedia. Fox is not a news station well... part news station... they broadcast news ok?? Well, that's one way to put it. I don't think Wikipedia has such a great reputation for complete accuracy. I recently read that an article concerning Oriana Fallaci had been 'doctored' to include some raunchy adjectives to describe her. Not with FAUX news altering the entries. Unfair and Unbalanced. i dont understand this source, honestly he doesn't have one- he says wiki isnt really anonymous and the ip was registered to fox... how, what, was it in rupert murdoch's name? how was it registered to fox? am i going insane or is that not real????? you dont have to like fox but i would think at least olberman would pick up this story if it had some credibility, which it doesnt. until then... i'm going to wiki's article on al franken and checking out the history. see for my self the ip info and use a server that'll give me its info (which, fyi, can be hidden with a simple firefox addon) Funny no one here likes to mention the changes that go the other way on the political spectrum. Such as the NYT edits of Bush's profile, DeLay's Profile, Rice's profile, the WSJ profile, or the DNC's edit of Rush's profile Let me just say I am completely against anyone editing information in wikipedia if there is no reason to do so. If you ask me, it's like what stalin did in the Soviet Union, only a lot less dramatic... Wikipedia is crap Could 'editing' be correcting false information? I thought it was an interactive educational site that allowed *editors* to add/correct/edit information? It's lost a lot of it's credibility. The think is, according to msnbc magazine, the changes are done to obscure facts detrimental to the subjects and to smear their targets (such as changing a single letter in George WaLker Bush, done by somebody at the BBC) and not only that but Fox and the Times of London covered the story, but covetingly left themselves out the story. All these changes or more to the point who made them where discovered by a Cal Tech student who devised a program to track the IP of those involved and compared the information on the Wikis with public information data banks. If anything this is good for Wikipedia, as it helps it clean erroneous facts (about anybody) about anybody and helps enforce the honor code system on which it depends. I heard the CIA and the Vatican also edit wikipedia... I think it's getting kind of scary this resembles the cheating that goes on at public state exams... Doesn't it??? One of their slogans (besides the laughable "Fair and Balanced") is "We Report, You Decide". Someone should give them a taste of their own medicine by hacking into their system and changing all appearances of that second tagline to "We Decide, You Believe". I saw an entire list of every company or organization that's ever edited wikipedia.... it's long... dell, microsoft, sony, coca cola, fbi, the vatican.... I dont think you should use wikipedia as you're most important source (which I always used to do for school...) |
