Someone needs to spend a year in my body. Then you would see

"Do not wait to strike until the iron is hot but make it hot by striking."

The "iron" in this saying is a branding iron. Trying to get a branding iron red hot by hitting the cow is really, really stupid.

God gives every bird its food, but He does not throw it into the nest. He does not unearth the good that the earth contains, but He puts it in our way, and gives us the means of getting it ourselves.

Hmmm ... does God also give us the means to take more than our share? Or to obtain our share through wars and illegal means? Can we hold God responsible for pollution and global warming because he gave us the means to drill for oil and invent the internal combustion engine? After all, God gave man dominion over the Earth - gee, that was a great idea.

Sayings of this type are a sham. The underlying message that societies are never at fault for the misery they create.
