Don't be taken in by the claim that any change in the law would be
accompanied by stringent safeguards to avoid abuse. As I said in my
speech during the debate on assisted dying in the Lords this week, I
tick every box in Lord Falconer's checklist of criteria to die.
I have a progressive disease. I need constant assistance just
to go on living. I would have no trouble at all in persuading two
doctors that I should be sent on my way.

In the Netherlands and the American state of Oregon, the old taboos against suicide have already been swept away. In Switzerland, the Dignitas clinic routinely ends the lives of patients who seek its help, even if they are not terminally ill.

And as we all know, more than 100 Britons have already made that last journey to an assisted death. Hundreds more, it is claimed, are considering taking the same fatal road.

Yeah Merrie, there was a also woman in the USA who, now deceased, wrote a really heart wrenching account of her meeting with Peter Singer, the Utilitarian philosopher who advocates killing people like her.
