Not since Brandi Chastain’s famous sports bra incident at the Women’s World Cup has a brassiere of the sporty variety received so much press–an injured American hiker stranded in the Alps used her <A href="http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2008/06/23/international/i104303D13.DTL" target="_blank">sports bra</A> as a signal, leading to her rescue. Jessica Bruinsma was hiking with a friend when bad weather caused her to lose her way and tumble down nearly 17 feet onto a rocky overhang. Bruinsma attached her sports bra to an out of service timber transport system and when a repairman restored service to the line a few days later, he spotted the bra and called police who rescued the 24-year-old hiker. Lesson du jour: bras save lives.</P>						</DIV>
