Hitchens claims, "but what I mean to say is that the religious part of our brain is part of the less highly evolved bit".

And Dawkins is sure that religious people are uglier than average.

"less highly evolved"?
I never knew evolution was linear, towards something, but moreso solutions to problems that are passed on. So, "less highly evolved" towards what? His idea of what humanity should be?
Just because one is a follower of science and reason does not mean they will not follow a charismatic or influential leader blindly (Hitler, Stalin, Mao).
