This may turn out to be the health story of the year. Extra cool since it isn't some complicated drug. Diabetes is a national epidemic. That's wonderful! I'm glad they've found something! Is this a hoax? I saw it on the news. The guys who found it sound as surprised as everyone else. Of course, this is in mice and there will be lots of testing to do, but it looks very promising. My Mom died from complications of diabetes at age 59. Her illness and death was long and very painful. This would help to east the suffering of many people. I have had type1 diabetes for 26years now and have come across many "discoveries" that have faded into oblivion....this sounds quite "off the wall" though so it might raise hope for the future? From what I have researched, it is a well documented study. What a great breakthrough. Oramed Pharmaceutical has successful initial phase FDA trials of orals Insulin capsules on diabetic patients. The insulin is delivered to liver meaning that the therapy mimics normal functioning body by supplementing inferior pancreas production. Oramed is based at Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem Israel and its scientific team includes a nobel prize winning chemist.See www.oramed.com |
