This was a common practice in the South during those days. It is amazing that in the face of DNA evidence, the lineage of the Jefferson daughters by his wife Martha are still denying this charge.
He was a privleged and aristocratic man that had a quadroon concubine and fathered at least 5 or 6 children by her. This story has been preserved for over 200 years for a reason.
This does not diminish that Jefferson was a gifted writer and legal statesman. He was a human being during a difficult time in American history.
