righthand says:
(CBS) Few problems have been more persistent or produced more bad news for the military than the issue of rape within its own ranks.

Allegations that not enough is being done to help victims or prosecute offenders have been raised from the service academies to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan -- where hundreds of cases of sexual assault have been reported by women in uniform.

It was that revelation, plus pressure from Congress, that’s forced the Pentagon to once again examine sexual misconduct in the military – which has been done 18 times in the last 16 years. The result has been more recommendations and sweeping policy changes.

"They’ve done nothing but lie to me and treat me like a criminal," says Dyer.

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld says that he will have zero tolerance when it comes to sexual assault in the military.

To that, Dyer says, "I don’t believe it. Zero tolerance would mean that I would not have been treated the way I’ve been treated."

this is typical of the military. I wonder how they handle these incidents in other countries that have 2 gender armies.

Recruits RAPED by fellow Soldiers

These bastards only succeed because the society allows it to succeed. Shine the light of day on this corruption.

Also

Recently, the Marine Corps announced a court settlement in a suit
brought by two Ukiah, Calif., teenage girls who were raped by
recruiters during a 2004 military-sponsored event.

The
recruiters, Sgts. Joseph Dunzweiler and Brian Fukushima, were
court-martialed and demoted but nevertheless acquitted of serious
wrongdoing. According to press reports, the recruiters got the underage girls drunk before the attack.

In other countries with two gender armies, rape is treated as rape - and so charged under their version of military laws, generally with harsher penalties than civilian law.

Personally, though, I rather approve a more old-fashioned approach. Someone who fucks over your buddy (male or female) tends to have a career-ending accident involving favorite body parts.

Hey, it takes a villiage...

and if the powers that be understood that wouldn't it be in their interest to ensure that the males were whole and the females secure and happy! So unless they have some other motive re females "in this man's army" then the problem gets solved pronto. You might consider then that a few well published cases of garrotted 'tricky dicks' would cure the problem, pronto!

I know a couple of women who told me that the pressure for sex starts during recruitment, even before enlistment. This was happening even before the military began lowering their standards so they could fill their dwindling ranks.

Whether it's child sex abuse or any other abuse including rape, all seem to operate in the environment on SILENCE. Only when the light of truth is shone on these silent crimes will there be any solution.

Up until some months ago I had no notion of there being any such problem on COMMAND RAPE within the US army. The attitude from the armed forces appears to be to maintain that it is an internal army problem and of no interest to civilians. This is aiding and abetting the criminal. In addition the crime invariably takes place on army property. If this was in a civilian employment then the employer would have a case to answer if there were as many cases.

I respond at length as there is a rela...

And there was outrage when colleges refused to allow recruiters on campus! It does not matter if it is the military or any other organization, the safety of the students lies in the hands of the school in regard to safety on campus, there are numerous lawsuits against universities for such issues.

Great clip, and very important topic, and yes, the name of these criminals should be released, if they are found guilty.
