The salmon used to be so thick on the Columbia River when Lewis & Clark traversed to Oregon that their journals recorded that it looked as if you could walk across the river on their backs.

Tuna too. Bumble Bee Tuna moved from Astoria Oregon to San Diego California.

There is also some evidence, the beaching of the whales almost exclusively on the West Coast, that the Navy's experimentation with sonar and underwater explosives (recall major Naval bases in California) have disturbed all sea life.

Canadian scientists predict poor salmon runs http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/273529_salmon12.html

Well, gosh, they just got lucky. They're probably wrong about the climate.

Not to worry bookwormy, There's plenty of salmon where I live in Northern Michigan. There's no such thing as going fishing alone in my neck of the woods. You better bring someone to hold the net because you can't land them without one. We have some of best fishing in the world. You can fish the Rivers or Lake Huron, two completely different experiences. The Salmon run upstream in the fall. What a sight. There's so many Salmon you could walk across their backs to the other side of the river without getting wet. I know you think I'm pulling your leg but figure you have the Great Lakes full of salmon and all at once they get the urge to find a river and watch out. I get excited just thinking about it. So enjoy your Salmon.
