chestnut501 says: Religous Property Tax Exemptions Cost U.S.Taxpayers an Estimated 300 to 500 Billion a Year. Here we go with the Huffington Post again. Good source of news if you are a follower! What about all of the left wing tax exemptions, like Obama's church, Rev Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton? Should they exempted from the exemptions? Good post Chez! This needs looking into. So does the offshore tax shelter situation and other unwarranted and privileged subsidization. jay8h, fox news is a good source if you are a follower! Turn off the tv man, you'll be a lot healthier! Deb2012, Trust me, I am not a follower. okay jay8 my bad! @jay8h - ! What about all of the left wing tax exemptions, like Obama's church, Rev Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton? Should they exempted from the exemptions? The Obama family have not selected a new church in Washington D.C. yet. The First Family attended St. John's Episcopal church last Easter Sunday. http://stjohns-dc.org/ Why did you bring Sharpton and Jackson and "left-wing" into the discussion anyway? Are you asserting that "God" is a right winger? Did he send you an email, a vision or a message-in-a-bottle informing you of his political leanings? Don't you know of any non-black "left wing" religious leaders or did you just want to inject race into the debate? Are ... My Observations: Christians are usually right wingers. Have you seen any left wing churches that are Biblical? If it is a left wing church it usually does not follow the Bible. Left wingers are usually the critics of Christianity and are "Progressives". If it is a church, it does not follow Biblical teachings. jay, gut feelings are seldom as good as thinking through a topic. And researching a little to fully understand. In Australia we have a lot of left wing Catholics. I grew up in a mining town and the Catholics ran the Unions ( and the Unions were left wing). And the tax exemption situation has been ruined for the churches by the greedy b's who live in greater comfort than the Emperor of Rome. So the churches can suffer in their upmarket jocks. tabsey, I agree with you. I am sure there are left wing churches, but normally, at least in the US, the Christian churches do not support abortion, same sex marriage, etc, all left wing dogma. After the last Presidential election, the statistic supported this. Also, I classified the churches as being "biblical", meaning they follow scriptural teachings which, for the most part, are diametrically opposed to much of liberal thinking. |
