thisnamecantbetaken says: It's for "National Security." Screw our own rights and liberties and security and privacy, as long as the tyrannical, paranoid, fear-driven Empire is happy. Right? America's behaviour is alarming, annoying, paranoid and ridiculous, to say the least, and very unbecoming of a so-called "free and brave" nation. "It's one thing to say it's reasonable for government agents to open your luggage. It's another thing to say it's reasonable for them to read your mind and everything you have thought over the last year. What a laptop records is as personal as a diary, but much more extensive. It records every Web site you have searched. Every e-mail you have sent. It's as if you're crossing the border with your home in your suitcase." Eric Arthur Blair's novel 1984 was just the beginning. "YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET" True. I would say that this a form of hysteria. Surely such invasions will create more resentment and rage against the US. Also personal information will be used to commit crimes unrelated to terrorism by inspectors seeking some personal advantage. "Fascist is as fascist does." My boss came in early to work one day which he never does. I asked him why he came in early? He said just checking up on things. I then asked him. Who is checking the checker? Point being..... "WHO IS CHECKING THE CHECKER?" Seems to me we really need somebody to check the checker......BUT WHO? otu fo comptroll I'll be going to the states later this year for the first time and hope to god that the people I meet make up for the paranoid security agencies you guys seem to have. From what I understand I will be forced to give my fingerprints and have my photograph taken before I am allowed entry to the states, I will have my cellphone records copied and my data from my laptop copied. Whatever happened to innocent UNTIL proven guilty? "Give me your cold, your tired, your huddled masses and submit them for a full body cavity search and a long stay at gitmo." Upon arrival, you will be eye-scanned too. Before you even leave home, they will check your bank statements, your criminal record, where you have vacationed earlier and for how long. Did you buy one-way or return tickets. Did you pay cash or credit? Etc, etc, etc. Wear clothes and shoes that are easy to remove and quick to put back on. Let people know of your travel plans before you leave and E.T.A's to where you are headed. Avoid belt buckles. It freaks them out if you beep. Shave beard? Whiten skin? Dump dark glasses? Pacemaker? Implants? We are so doomed. That's what happens when the young people give up freedom for security and comfort.Where is the Dr Martin Luther King of this generation? That's what happens when the young people give up freedom for security and comfort.Where is the Dr Martin Luther King of this generation?Up until last night I might have asked the same question. Then I watched a lengthy UTube on a demonstration. I think it was in Portland some years ago. I believe I might have been intimidated into not demonstrating after seeing it. MLK had at worst a neutral president in JFK. Bush backs the fascist police to the hilt. Even the constitution or Bill of Rights is worthless under George. It worried me last night. Instead of bemoaning the lack of street demonstrations, I now salute the courage of those that kept American freedoms alive. I thou...
