And recently…it's got worse. As I'm driving up the street I constantly come across pedestrians walking across my part of the road to get from one of these pavements to another. I mean, what the hell...? They've been given vast tracts of pedestrian-only routes, where I'm certainly not allowed to drive, but apparently this isn't enough for them. Oh no, they want to keep encroaching into my space as well. Sure, we've all heard these walking zealots who say that it's because the 'pavements' don't form a joined-up network, meaning they can't walk to where they want to go without having to step onto the road from time to time. Aw, bless their little hearts. To pedestrians I say this: get off my part of the road. If you walk there when I'm coming along then I'll happily run you down, that's all.

We all pay for the upkeep of the roads which are kept up mostly because of the pressures from commerce(automobile manufacturers, those who transport goods) and less to service the general public.

As a militant pedestrian, I hate to discourage righteous indignation, but folks... it's satire.

The "scum" link (the very first one) goes to a YouTube video with the description
It may be greener, but cyclists are idiots who demand a lot and give nothing back. Lets start arming our cars and get them off the road
The link about "pavements (or sidewalks if you're inclined)" goes to a Facebook petition to keep cyclists off the road and on the sidewalk. The description begins
I hate driving slightly askew or even changing lanes to avoid a cyclist!
KEEP ON THE SIDEWALK!
Click through on any of the links – they're all to incredibly hostile anti-bicycling ...

Okay, I see the humor. But as a carbon monoxide sucking pedestrian because of Shell, BP, Mobil and others...well, you see where I am going with this. The trains are gone because of the automakers and so is the horse and buggy. I don't need to ask my neighbor for an egg or cup of sugar now that I have a car. In fact, I don't need to speak with him at all! I can be totally independent a free of pesky human contact.. THANK YOU HENRY FORD!!

I think you and I are vehemently in agreement.

We've been car-free for more than two and a half years now. I'm a self-described militant pedestrian and am looking for the right place on my bike to put the Uppity Bike Commuters sticker the bike shop gave me (although I don't advocate U-lock justice the way some people do).

Are you familiar with the blog How We Drive? The book The High Cost of Free Parking is also excellent.
